NEW SERVICE AT KHORFAKKAN
Reflecting the health of the vibrant UAE economy and its links with the equally buoyant export regions of East Asia - Gulftainer's Khorfakkan Container Terminal hosted its latest new service on Tuesday 13th November.
The 'Hanjin Qingdao', representing the maiden call of Hanjin's FMS service berthed at 10 a.m. and sailed later in the day having achieved a productivity rate of around 120 mph.
This new 2,500 TEU ship is operating on a loadport rotation covering China, Korea and South East Asia and the current service will add a further three ships early in 2008.
Partners on the new service will be fellow Korean companies, Heung A, STX Panocean, Sinokor and C&Line who will be contributing tonnage to the service soon.
Gulftainer director and general manager Peter Richards commented "We are delighted that our longtime customer Hanjin/Senator has chosen to boost its presence in the area with a further call at Khorfakkan.
They recognise, at a time when costs for lines are increasing dramatically - with fuel prices at an all time high - the benefits of calling at the region's most productive and cost effective major container terminal hub in Khorfakkan, from where they can serve the UAE markets quickly and simply via the Sharjah ICD, and also the surrounding regions of the Gulf, Iran, Pakistan, India and East Africa by interconnected relay services.
We wish the very best of success to Hanjin and their associates with their new FMS service."
