WORKING TO LOWER OUR IMPACT

Marine life conservation is a top priority for Gulftainer, given our proximity to ocean ecosystems. Our commitment is evident at our container terminals, where turtles swim safely near large container ships – a testament to our rigorous marine conservation policies. In the United Arab Emirates, we have partnered with Emirates Nature – WWF and adhere to the UN Global Compact Framework for bio-diversity, sustainability and social responsibility.
Gulftainer has implemented a comprehensive range of sustainability initiatives across its operations. These include electrifying port and warehouse equipment, installing LED lighting and smart energy management systems, and adopting recycling and waste reduction programmes for waste water, scrap material, tyres, plywood plastic, packaging and electronic waste.
Smart technologies, including automation and AI-driven logistics planning, also help minimise delays and reduce the risk of costly disruptions.
Our terminals actively reduce carbon emissions by using Rubber Tyred Gantries (RTGs) that operate on electric power supply, which also decreases noise pollution. We carefully monitor fuel consumption, vehicle mileage and equipment running hours and implement strict repair and preventive maintenance protocols.
We hold ISO 14001:2015 certification, the international standard for environmental management systems (EMS).
